What happens to everything on the old site? Can I still get there?

The old site will no longer available to the public after the web launch. The web team will have access to the information on the old site for a period of time.

Do we need to update all of the links? Will old links still work?

The web team analyzed the old site’s traffic to determine the pages that were accessed the most. Links for these top pages will have redirects set prior to the web launch.

How can I learn to use the new site?

The new site should be easy to navigate requiring little learning time. The web team collaborated with University Marketing to use the familiar UW WordPress theme and designed the new site to incorporate proven user experience architecture.

Additionally, the web team conducted user experience testing on the site prior to launch.

What’s the plan for fixing things that are broken at launch?

The web team has tested the site internally, we have also employed University Marketing to provide accessibility testing, browser testing, device testing, and link testing. We have also hired a professional proofreader to read through each page of the site prior to launch.

While we have tested and are confident that we will launch without error, we are dealing with technology.

Immediately after launch, we will implement our post-launch checklist which includes a large group of individuals checking each page and link on the site. The site will be reviewed from within the university as well as from outside the university network. Issues that may arise will be reported to the web team’s ticketing system and triaged immediately.
