This one-day workshop provides educators with an opportunity to learn about strategies for sharing feedback on mathematical reasoning with students. We will consider purposes, structures, and examples of feedback on both written and oral mathematical reasoning. In this small-group collaborative workshop, participants will practice giving feedback on student work samples and access resources for continued learning. Time is intentionally included to plan for implementation in your classroom.
Although this workshop can be taken independently, it will build on the experiences of Math Support for Multilingual Learners Workshop and Facilitating Mathematical Discussions and Justification. Regular, thorough, and specific feedback is critical for multilingual learners’ success in using academic language in math. We will use the lens of the first workshop to determine how to best support Multilingual Learners with feedback on their written and oral mathematical reasoning.
