Courageous Coaching Conversation with Maxine McKinney de Royston

Dr. Maxine McKinney de Royston, an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, led a discussion on the work featured in this Cap Times article and the corresponding action guide, Equity in Pandemic Schooling: An Action Guide for Families, Educators, & Communities. The following questions were used to guide the conversation:

  • What have we learned about how educators can support the learning and well-being of Black and Brown children? How might understanding how to support minoritized learners inform and improve our instruction for all learners?
  • What opportunities might exist with students learning from home, and how might we engage parents and families as partners in students’ education?
  • How do we redesign our learning spaces to reflect our intentions and our visions of teaching and learning?
